Time for New shoes?

Why You Should Rotate Multiple Pairs of Running Shoes

If you run in the same pair of shoes every day, you're missing out on the benefits of shoe rotation, which can enhance performance and injury prevention. By rotating two or three pairs, you can make one of the simplest upgrades as a runner. Different shoes load your body differently – a cushioned trainer, a lighter tempo shoe, and perhaps a trail shoe all stress your feet and legs in unique ways. This variety spreads out the impact and helps avoid hammering the same tissues during every single run. Research shows that runners who practice shoe rotation tend to experience fewer injuries.

Additionally, proper running shoe maintenance is essential. The foam in your midsole compresses with each footfall and takes about 24 hours to fully recover. If you run in the same pair two days in a row, your second run occurs on foam that hasn’t completely rebounded. By rotating pairs, you ensure that each run is on fresh foam, which also extends the lifespan of your shoes. You don’t need an extensive collection; start with two pairs. Use one for easy miles and another for workouts or long runs. If you venture onto trails, add a trail shoe to the mix. Matching the shoe to the day will truly benefit your running experience.
